Finished in the first month of 2009, Moros was my first illustrated fullstory. It was the first time I tried making a serie of drawings for only one story. On top of that I wanted to invent my own character with his own story.
After a lot of unlucky attempts, I started playing with very simple silhouettes of buildings, people, monsters and entire cities. I immediately loved the big contrast I created by using these silhouettes. Using only three basic colours (red, black and the negative use of white), the dramatic value of the whole story enhanced. This was very useful for this story because it's a pretty dark story about a guy called Moros (Moros was a Greek god of destruction) whose only purpose in life is to take photo's of people suffering from all sorts of disasters, from Godzilla's to burning appartments, from a cheating husband to flying asteroïds. At the end, however, Moros is surprised by something he never expected... Find out for yourself!
(ps: In case you might wonder: every curl and every line is drawn by hand. Again a pretty patient job... I dare you to count them all! If you're right you might even win an original Moros-drawing :) )
